Blog post about Colin Dickey’s
The quote I felt I liked the most this one was my top one. The quote is ““Ghost stories reveal the fault lines of who we are and what we fear.” — Colin Dickey, Ghostland: An American History in Haunted Places” I have heard a similar saying before. My family would say things like that ghosts are better than humans. Like it went, you have a dream and you dream of someone who died and like in my culture they say they come to you because they are sending a message. The ghost could scare you but it is rare. The ghost doesn’t harm you. I have seen a ghost. This ghost was from a story my mother said. I was young but I was always told that story about a guy who stands in front of the house and stays there and watches over it. And one day I saw him standing at the door. A lot of cultures not only mine but pass down stories so then we know them and can pass them on. So the ghost stories connect us. A lot of people don’t believe me. I said I saw a real ghost and it was based on something that happened. I feel like the ghost topic is hard to target since a lot of people do not believe in them or they think it only happens in movies. For example, we see many haunted houses, abandoned houses, abandoned hospitals, or even subway stations. Those places are full of stories we never knew. How do we know if the ghost comes back because he or she spent most of their time at that place? The ghosts represent something. I won’t say I am not scared of them but they are here for something. All ghost stories have something to tell us. The story is not for us to decide if we believe it or not but it is for us to choose if we wanna agree or not, what we pick to believe and something if I wanna keep the story to pass on or not.
